It should be noted that some clothing brands are trying to reintroduce low rise jeans, but the internet has spoken and isn’t having any of that. Simply searching the words “low rise jeans” returns a unison of unanimous outcry against the trend.

I know that growing up in a generation that are overeducated but underpaid and can never afford housing is shit but I still thank god that I didn’t grow up in the generation that thought low rise jeans were a look— ~ Shannon ~ (@shannonmaile_) February 12, 2019

The reasons for the decry ranged from unflattering muffin tops to flat bottoms. One thing they did all agree on was that high waisted jeans are simply more flattering on the figure. The cinching at the waist helps to create an hourglass look, especially for those lacking in curves. In a generation where big butts and small waists are highly sought after, only high waisted jeans are able to accommodate the extra size while closing the gap at the waist.
But it isn’t simply about how it shapes the body. High waisted jeans also make looking fashionable easier. It’s almost effortless these days. A simple tee, high waisted jeans, and a flirty pout are just about all you need these days to look like you have a great sense of style. The look isn’t limited to jeans. High waisted anything is highly coveted with no end in sight.
Gone are the days when the fashion industry held all the power and say in what society should wear. Thanks to social media, this same industry is now at the mercy of public opinion. A voice that was once muted and considered to “not know what’s good for you” is now roaring demands and getting what they want. And what they want are high waisted jeans. It’s a demanding generation that is here to stay. Should society ever want low rise jeans, they’ll let us know. Until then, no one’s holding their breath.
